Everyone advises me not to mess with the registry on my windows xp home edition. I figure I should do something as it slows my computer over and over.

I have copies of adobe software on my hard drive at the moment, but don't have the actual disks. If I back up my hard drive onto an external drive, would I still be able to use that software, or would I have to reinstall?

Hi, from yesterday I cannot open task manager and registry edtor, don't know what happened, restart computer but the same. Pop up error message say that I don't have the rights to open it something like this. Is a virus or what?

but i have always fixed the registry in 2 ways, by using CCleaner and by reisntalling windows

As far as I can tell, the hard disk is ok (it still shows up in my RAID set), but Windows XP Pro won't boot, and gives me a system error ("windows\system32\config\system is missing or corrupt.")
Unfortunately I don't have the original OS disc, but i have a XP Media ...
