Backing up hard drive and software registry?

I have copies of adobe software on my hard drive at the moment, but don’t have the actual disks. If I back up my hard drive onto an external drive, would I still be able to use that software, or would I have to reinstall?

It wasn’t very long after I installed XP that I was messing around with the registry. I suspect you’re probably going to be doing the same thing or else you wouldn’t be in this area of the site. Before you make any changes, take the time to read over this section. It’s pretty dry reading material, but it might save you from finding yourself with a putty colored box that just sits there doing nothing rather than firing up XP as you would expect.

There are two ways of working with the registry; software based and direct access. The software based method is generally considered to be safe, although a badly behaved piece of software that mangles the registry can make you doubt the wisdom of this statement. Anyone who has used a computer is familiar with the software based method of making changes. Control Panel is an excellent example. Make a change to one of the Control Panel settings and almost assuredly you have initiated a change within the registry. It’s just that you are insulated by Control Panel from seeing what went on behind the scenes in the registry.

Directly accessing the registry is far more dangerous. There used to be two versions of Registry Editor, regedit and regedt32, but for XP they have been incorporated in Microsoft registry editor Version 5.1. Type either name in the [Run] box and Version 5.1 is what you’re going to end up with. The only real disadvantage of not having regedt32 anymore is the lack of read-only mode in Version 5.1, but it just means you need to be careful not to make any unintended changes when browsing through the registry. And make sure you have a valid backup and restore point.

I need to create a church registry/directory that also has birthdates, anniversaries, and email addresses as well as the regular stuff. I also need to have birthday/anniversary reminders on it. If that cannot be done on excel, what software will do it and will it be able to be read in other formats?
I need something that I will still have access to in 30 days as the trial period expires with shareware. I do not have access. Please Help.

Do I need to use the cleaner or is a system restore better? I have 512 ram installed but it says I have only 504 on my computer. Also how do I install ram? And how do I found out what kind of ram I have?
im afraid to touch the inside of my computer and crucial can not find any suitable matches for ram upgrades. is there anything else i can do?

like registry mechanic , tuneup utilities.. but i think their aren’t the best.. so if you can give me any suggestions it will be much appreciated. i hope you suggest 5 star out of 5 and works effectively.

There are none that are respectably rated 5 stars. This is because "registry diagnostic" software is a total hoax. In 99% of cases, these apps do more harm than good. "Cleaning" the registry does not improve system performance.

For the remaining 1%, where the registry is actually messed up and is hindering the system, you can use something like CCleaner or RegDelNull to fix it (both free).

I am getting a registry error on my Windows XP when booting up. Is there any software out there to fix this?

Not sure what type of errors you are getting but my dad had so many registry errors on his computer, he was anticipating taking it to a computer shop. A friend of mine recommended this software so I downloaded it and boot it up on my dad’s computer. The errors went away after the software was done.
