Most of them would only find lots of errors but not repair them. Plus how could I improve the booting speed of my computer?

Nothingbutsoftware has a wonderful sale on both and I am always being told by free PC scans I have over 200 registry repairs needed. Has anyone had experience with either or both of these.

i bought a second hand pc (packhard bell iextreeme) and the registry has become corrupted. the smart restore facility has been disabled. can i use an xp disc ro repair the registry or does it have to be the version registered to this particular pc??
