Free registry cleaners that actually work?

No such animal. They are in business to make money. So you can use the “free” one once or twice to fix a few problems but you have to pay to use to fix everytning.
What I do is format and reinstall my OS once or twice a year That cleans up my registry quite well.

This isn’t exactly a registry "cleaner" but it is a mass search and replace registry editor, it’s called Resplendent Registrar. I have used it on an off for years and it is absolutely indispensable.
