How safe is it to delete an item from your Registry Editor?

February 13th, 2010 | by admin |

If you know that you dont need it and it’s not in use?

It should be fine to use, A safe product that I use all the time is: RegSeeker : http://www.hoverdesk.net/freeware.htm. Though it is always a good idea to backup your registry before hand via system restore. It gives you the choice to backup what it deletes, though I don’t recommend backing up from the program like that for it can cause conflicts.

Outside of that it should be safe.

I do it all the time. Just be careful, deleting some of them messes things up. If it is the temporary ones, not really a problem.

If you know what you are doing it’s safe. I deleted entries many times. But you have to be absolutely sure that what you are trying to delete is not a part of any existing program or system program.
If you make a mistake it could be fatal. That’s why be very careful.
