How to set a file to open with Registry Editor?
December 5th, 2009 | by admin |I have a .reg file which needs to open with the registry, but I have it opening with notepad; where could I locate the registry editor so i can open with it?
If it’s a .REG file, you should be able to just double click it to import it into the registry. It’s generally better to edit it in Notepad, make sure it’s what you want, then double click the .REG file to import. Once it’s imported, you can go to the tree in Registry Editor (Start > Run > regedit) to view it.
EDIT: I don’t think you can edit just a .REG file (without importing it) using registry editor.
