why would someone install registry editor on my pc?
January 16th, 2010 | by admin |From what I understand, registry editor does not come with windows vista. My dell inspirion laptop has been acting really weird. Mysterious beeps, files and folders moved around. Is someone hacking into my computer. How can I find out? Help!!!
Registry editors are a standard part of the O/S provided for people, like yourself, to view and edit the registry file (for basic repair and maintenance). Changing the registry does not require an editor as any program can have access to the registry data and modify it directly.
As far as what your system is doing, hard to say and but I doubt someone is hacking your computer. While it is not out of the realm of possibilities, no offense, but you are not a big enough target for that to happen (unless you have lots of money or state secrets
.
Potentially you have a virus running on your system. I would strongly suggest starting with a good virus scanner and an adware scanner to start with.
Unfortunately, trying to diagnose these types of issues through this forum is near impossible. You may want to consult someone local who is good at computers.

regedit is part of the computer.
if the files are moving around, try disconnecting from the internet and seeing if the problem continues.
