How can I repair the Winsock registry?
December 1st, 2009 | by admin |My computer had some issues and when I got it back from the IT department it could no longer get online. It says there is a problem with winsock. I tryed to repair the registry however it still doesn’t work? What is this and what can I do?
You may go through manual steps that might be risky if u r novice >>>
# Go to properties of Local Area Connection
# Click on the Install button in the Properties window
# Choose PROTOCOL, then click on ADD button.
# Click on HAVE DISK button…
# Type in C:\windows\inf\nettcpip.inf in the dialog box and click OK.
# Choose from the list INTERNET PROTOCOL TCP/IP in the list, and click OK.
# Click CLOSE.
# Reboot your computer.(At this point the Winsock is complete however to not only prevent this problem from happening in the future but also to make the process a lot easier you should update Windows.)
However, It would be better way iof you choose a software utility that do this for you automatically.

Call the IT department. Evidently they broke something. (I assume that people in your company are responsible for their actions.)

delete it and reboot
