Spyware Can Kill the Registry
August 19th, 2010 | by admin |
Spyware is malicious software that can kill the registry. What does Spyware have to do with the windows registry? Well, everything and anything that happens on the computer is registered in the registry. The registry is an integral part of the operating system and whatever is added to the computer or removed from the computer is registered in the system registry. When a device such as any hardware is installed, the information pertaining to that hardware is recorded in the system registry. This information includes the kind of device it is and the name of the manufacturer as well.
When the device was installed and also when it was uninstalled is also recorded. If one needs to know what was installed in the PC and when they simply have to refer to the system registry for the information. However, when a device is uninstalled from the system the information is not removed completely from system. This information is not necessary and just contributes to slowing the system down. Therefore the registry along with the entire system must be cleaned of the Spyware, and useless information, by premium or free Spyware removal software.
Where Does Spyware Come In?
Spyware loads itself on to a system to collect personal data and secretly mail it to a web site or email address. This information is used for marketing and at many times criminal intent. Spyware operates secretly in the background while the computer is running, and can only be removed by Spyware removal programs. All the while the Spyware is gathering information from the system.
This Spyware is also stored in the system registry by the operating system. While the Spyware is operating, it is sending and receiving a lot of information over the Internet. This information is constantly updated in the registry by the operating system making the registry swell beyond proportions. As the registry grows the system slows and gradually begins to crawl.
What To Do When The System Slows?
When you discover the system has become slower than usual it is best to download and run some anti-virus utility or Spyware removal program. Though this software may remove the Spyware it will leave traces of the program in different parts of the registry. This then has to be cleaned with special free Spyware Adware removal software.
It is best to download free Adware Spyware removal programs or Microsoft free Spyware removal Software to take care of the problem instead of diving into the registry manually. That can cause more damage than good. Free yahoo Spyware removal software is good enough to get your system up and running again that too at a good speed. Spyware removal software also makes the system more stable and less prone to crashes.

There is many things you can do, whether you want to purchase more RAM would do the most. (more the merrier) Another thing you can do is goto Start/Run and then type"msconfig" Startup tab- you can go to google and look and see what you can turn off and what you cannot. They do not uninstall the program just shut them down during startup so it will boot faster and run a bit faster in general.
******* YOU NEED TO RUN A VIRUS PROTECTION SOFTWARE*********
I run 2 free programs that do not seem to slow you down as much as Norton or Mcafee. "AVG" and "Spybot search and Destroy"
Good Luck

It takes some routine maintenance to keep any computer system running at its best. Note that unless noted otherwise, every piece of software mentioned here can be downloaded for free from http://www.download.com.
The free version of AVG Anti-Virus is lighter on system resources than many anti-virus utilities and also provides real-time spyware protection and E-mail scanning. It lacks some customization features of other similar applications but is a solid defender and updates frequently.
If you think you might have spyware on your system, keep at least two of the following on your system: Spyware Terminator, Ad-Aware Anniversary Edition (just released yesterday), Spybot: Search & Destroy, and Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware. Spyware Terminator has a real-time component that should be disabled if you use another anti-virus program. Spybot guides you through an easy setup wizard the first time it is run, but do NOT turn on TeaTimer if you are not a power user.
The free ZoneAlarm firewall is another great source of protection. You might also want to consider Comodo Firewall Pro, although it sometimes pops up too many alerts.
Fragmentation on the hard disk can cause many different performance issues. Before tackling it, though, you need to clean your hard disk of unnecessary files.
A great way to remove unneeded programs is to use the free Revo Uninstaller, which is much better at removing software than the Add/Remove Programs applet. When run, Revo first executes the program’s built-in uninstaller. Once it finishes, Revo then scours the hard drive for registry entries and leftover files and can clean all of them up in just a few mouse clicks. Don’t tamper with it unless you’re a power user, however; the default Moderate uninstallation routine is very safe and does a great job.
You can also control the amount of space that WIndows reserves for both System Restore and the Recycle Bin For the Recycle Bin, just right-click on it and choose Properties; you’ll see options for setting the percentage of space used for every hard disk on your system. Just click and drag the slider. Or, in the case of multiple drives, you can customize the amount of space reserved for each volume by marking "Configure drives independently" and then selecting from the tabs at the top of the window. To customize System Restore, right-click My Computer, choose Properties, and go to the System Restore tab in the box that appears. Select the volume whose settings you want to change, then click Settings and move the slider. By default, Windows usually devotes far too much space to both of these utilities. I also recommend downloading and installing CCleaner to scour your hard drive for unnecessary files. Also use Windows’ built-in Disk Cleanup utility to delete unnecessary files, compress the least-used files, and delete old restore points. Remember: You can manually create a restore point once you’ve cleaned up your hard disk and then delete every previous restore point except the one you created by going into Disk Cleanup and clicking the More Options tab.
Now you can defragment the hard drive, which rearranges the files on your hard disk so that they are more or less continuous. Try Auslogics Disk Defrag or, for total control over file placement on your drive, try the free version of Ultimate Disk Defrag. Be sure to read the PDF manual included as Ultimate Disk Defrag is a complex and very effective defragmenter. You can also defragment the Registry and system files that cannot be defragmented from within Windows by using Page Defrag, which is found here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb897426.aspx . Run Auslogics Disk Defrag every couple of weeks for optimum performance, but always clean up the drive BEFORE defragmenting it.
I have read that Registry cleaners are not all that effective and can actually harm your system if not wielded carefully. But one of the safest is TweakNow RegCleaner Std, which will not delete anything from the Registry that is not deemed fully safe.
